Learn how to train and fly these powerful predators of the sky. Dating back 3,000 years, falconry is still a firm part of Arabic culture. Feel the velvety soft feathers of an owl, have a hawk gently sit on your gloved fist, and marvel at the breathtaking speed and agility of a falcon as its swoops down at well over 100 km/h.

Cycling, Blading and Boarding

Palm Jumeirah stretches into the Arabian Gulf in the shape of a palm tree and a surrounding crescent island that forms an 11kms-long breakwater. The 6 km walkway lining the water at Dubai Marina provides wide paths for cycling, rollerblading, walking and running. The open beach in Jumeirah also provides a good beach cycling path (opposite Jumeirah Mosque). Carry ID when cycling and wear a helmet (compulsory).

Sandboarding

About 30 minutes’ drive from Dubai is a desert with the largest dunes in the country. Sandboarding is best enjoyed in the morning when temperatures are not too high and it’s best to start on smaller dunes and work your way up to a more challenging slope. A sand boarding safari tour picks guests up at around 8am and returns to the hotel around 12:30pm.

Indoor Skateboarding

Rage Skate Bowl is a great skateboarding hall for those who know how to skate. Adult lessons are also on offer.

Horse Riding

Dubai has several equestrian clubs, including Emirates Equestrian Centre. Established in 1983, the centre provides equestrian sports for the people of Dubai such as show-jumping, eventing and dressage competitions. Start your day watching the sun rise from the back of an Arabian horse at Al Maha Horse Riding. Experienced riders can go to the dunes from the private stables of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai. The Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa has air-conditioned stables and a spacious paddock for riding instruction. The Dubai Polo and Equestrian club teaches students of all ages and skill levels, from show jumping and dressage to Polo.

Target Shooting

The Jebel Ali Shooting Club has an indoor and outdoor shooting academy, where you can enjoy clay shooting, archery and you can even bring out your inner ‘James Bond’ at pistol shooting.

Squash courts are available at nearby hotels in the Dubai Marina. The hotel’s tennis court is located in the garden. Ask the Concierge about guided lessons with a Tennis Pro.

Jogging

The Palm is a popular running route for residents. Runners can travel along the 11.5 km Crescent or one way to the Atlantis route, around 5.5km. The Palm provides a very unique and beautiful coastline view that makes exercising very pleasant.

Swimming

Our lagoon and infinity pools are located in the central garden and are the ideal location for a nice relaxing swim. The private beach is another option where the sea is protected by the fronds of the Palm Jumeirah. Guests are asked to stay within the marked swimming area.

Fishing

The hotel provides trips for bottom fishing for local reef fish or trolling trips for game fish such as kingfish, barracuda or the strong Queenfish. Boats are fully equipped with gear and refreshments.

Boat Cruises

Cruise around Palm Jumeirah to the prestigious Dubai Marina or around Dubai’s shoreline with the backdrop of the Burj Al Arab and beyond. Arrangements can be made for every day enjoyment or for special occasions.

Diving

The coast around Dubai is filled with wrecks, some dating back to the 1960s that were intentionally sunk to create new habitats for marine life.
