The Amsterdam Dance Event features 300 events and 2,000 DJ's over five days in 100 clubs and venues, which together combine to make Amsterdam one of the busiest and most inspiring clubbing cities in the world. It is a unique, dance-related lifestyle program offering five days of film screenings, art shows and exhibitions, pop-up musical performances.
IDFA Film Festival
IDFA Film Festival launched in 1988 and is returning back to Amsterdam on November 16th until November 27th, 2016. IDFA has been one of the world's leading documentary film festivals, dedicated to the exhibition and promotion of ground-breaking creative documentaries.
Amsterdam Light Festival
The fifth edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival kicks off in 2016 and 2017. Look out for dedicated canal cruises and a walking route, The Illuminade, taking in the selection of spectacular illuminated artworks. Also, keep an eye out for guided tours and an extensive side-programme with a host of activities and events taking place at museums, theatres, restaurants, shops and other locations in Amsterdam.
Jumping at Amsterdam RAI
The international equestrian event Jumping Amsterdam celebrates its 58th outing when it returns from January 26th-29th, 2017.
Held at the Amsterdam RAI, the event is an annual highlight on the Dutch equestrian calendar and draws the world's best riders, including Olympic champions. Jumping Amsterdam includes show jumping and dressage competitions, shows, evening entertainment, an exhibition area and various bars and restaurants.

Thirty enormous 17th century group portraits from the collections of the Amsterdam Museum and the Rijksmuseum have been brought together for the first time in the Hermitage Amsterdam. Together they illustrate the story of the collective citizenship that is so typical of the Netherlands. Come and see them and discover the similarities with the mentality of The Netherlands today.
Exhibition Catherine the Greatest (18 June 2016 to 15 January 2017)
Two hundred and fifty years after Catherine, the Greatest, founded the Hermitage, the Hermitage Amsterdam presents her life story in a sumptuous exhibition on Europe's longest-reigning empress. Her name has always been surrounded with stories and superlatives, often about her private life and court intrigues. The exhibition unravels her life story and sketches her personality. It is also an exhibition with magnificent personal possessions such as dresses, bijoux, cameos, and snuff boxes, as well the finest art works from her vast collection: paintings, sculptures, exquisite crafts, and portraits of her friends and loved ones.
The historic canal belt of Amsterdam hosts the ten-day festival of classical music at numerous beautiful locations. The Canal Festival's concerts are performed on stages by or even on the water, as the musicians stand on pontoons and the audience listens from the canal side or from their own boats. The Canal Festival will take place in August, 2017.
