Gallery of the Golden Age

Thirty enormous 17th century group portraits from the collections of the Amsterdam Museum and the Rijksmuseum have been brought together for the first time in the Hermitage Amsterdam. Together they illustrate the story of the collective citizenship that is so typical of the Netherlands. Come and see them and discover the similarities with the mentality of The Netherlands today.

Grachtenfestival

The historic canal belt of Amsterdam hosts the ten-day festival of classical music at numerous beautiful locations. The Canal Festival's concerts are performed on stages by or even on the water, as the musicians stand on pontoons and the audience listens from the canal side or from their own boats. The Canal Festival will take place in August, 2017.

Amsterdam Gay Pride 2017

Amsterdam's famous liberal-mindedness over the years has encouraged a welcoming and safe environment for gays, lesbians and transgenders to both visit and reside. Amsterdam's gay rights history, from early-day tolerance to modern Mayoral celebrants, means Amsterdam is at the world forefront in striving for equality for the gay community.

I am art: Dutch Masters

The most fun and innovative exhibition takes place at Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam on February 1st until February 3rd. This exhibition allows you to discover in a new way the masterpieces of famous painters. Different innovative technologies invite you to be painted by Van Gogh, become part of masterpieces or reveal your own art.

Sonic Acts Academy

For the music, arts, culture and science enthusiasts, this festival combines exhibitions, debates and master classes to discover all the mysteries of the human life. Held at different venues in Amsterdam - such as Paradiso, the Stedelijk Museum and Brakke Grond - you can take part in this festival from the February 23rd to the February 26th.

Tulip Festival

The Tulip Festival returns from April 1st - 30th, 2017. During the fall, thousands of bulbs have been planted, which will bloom during the month of April. Amsterdam is traditionally connected to the legendary tulip; however the bulb seems to have vanished from the streets. Therefore, the aim of the Tulip Festival is to bring back the tulip in the city streets and to plant one tulip for each individual citizen of Amsterdam.

King's Day (27 April)

This is a celebration to experience at least once in a lifetime. City wide street sales, DJ's on public squares, brightly decorated boats on the canals, live music spilling onto the streets from café's…all in celebration of our King's birthday. An unforgettable experience for locals and tourists alike.

Amsterdam Dance Event

The Amsterdam Dance Event features 300 events and 2,000 DJ's over five days in 100 clubs and venues, which together combine to make Amsterdam one of the busiest and most inspiring clubbing cities in the world. It is a unique, dance-related lifestyle program offering five days of film screenings, art shows and exhibitions, pop-up musical performances.

Amsterdam Light Festival

The fifth edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival kicks off in 2016 and 2017. Look out for dedicated canal cruises and a walking route, The Illuminade, taking in the selection of spectacular illuminated artworks. Also, keep an eye out for guided tours and an extensive side-programme with a host of activities and events taking place at museums, theatres, restaurants, shops and other locations in Amsterdam.
