The classic American man, Ernest Hemingway, was responsible for revolutionising fiction. His Florida home - his residence for the most prolific period of his life - has now been opened to the public. Step back in time and visit the rooms which housed the creation of literary masterpieces. Let the knowledgeable tour guides provide insight and answer any questions. Stare out to sea at the Key West Lighthouse Museum, which was built in 1947 to help aid ships navigating dangerous reefs. Climb to the top of the 88-step circular iron stairway, and look out over the azure ocean.

Visit a piece of American history at the Harry S. Truman Little White House Museum. From its time as a command headquarters during the Spanish Civil War to its use as a Cold War response area, it has played a notable role in American conflict. It was also used as the Winter House of President Harry S.Truman, although now is considered a 'living museum.' Take the kids to the coastal fortress of Fort Jefferson, where they can learn about the colorful sealife, coral reefs, shipwrecks and buried treasure of the area.
